This intervention is about enabling carers to give input into the planning, design, running and evaluation of services and policies at a local and national level.

Depending on the needs and wishes of local carers, the methods for delivering Carers Shaping Policy and Services can include:
 
  • helping carers to participate in local planning, commissioning and service design
  • supporting carer-led groups.
 
This is not a prescriptive list of the services required for each area, but the practice examples can be used to inspire ideas about creative and inventive ways to meet the outcomes of the National Carers’ Strategy.
